The last weekend living in our current apartment – the move is on next weekend so we’ll be sort of between two apartments for a couple of days, I guess – and we decided to head out and enjoy the sunshine. As I’m still taking it easy on my calf, a bike ride was in order and the demand from Jamie was to go from park to park in Lyon playing games.
After walking down from the apartment to the tunnel we headed out along the Rhone beneath Saint Clair. At the footbridge we crossed over to the other side of the river and then entered the Parc de la Feyssine. Jamie hasn’t been there much before and we made our first stop so that he and Cécile could take selfies on top of a large concrete…something or other. Not quite sure what it was but it gave them a nice view in the middle of the park.
Next stop was the Parc de la Tete D’Or where Jamie played on a toboggan and made a monkey out of himself climbing with some other kids on the bars and ropes. After about ten minutes or so we headed for our next stop on the berges de Rhone where Jamie managed to get himself half soaked playing in the water with other kids. It’s all in good fun, of course, but I was a little worried he would get cold if the weather turned so we pulled back onto the bike path and turned for home.
While Jamie managed to spin his way up a couple of hills along the way, the final push up the Pentes was too much for him and so we clicked stop on the Garmin a little before getting home. No matter, though: we got ten kilometers in and enjoyed the ride and – thankfully – no one hurt themselves, including me.
The coming week is going to be stressful with the move and a whole lot of paperwork to get through, too, but come Sunday evening next week hopefully things will be all falling into place in the new apartment.
